Ad formats that refuse to die.

49 proven Meta ads from 17 of the best creative teams in DTC — pulled live from Motion's ad-library intelligence, filtered to ads that have stayed in active rotation for 30 to 480 days. Every card names the repeatable format behind the ad, so any of them can be rebuilt for any client, in any category.

480max days live

How “high-performing” is measured: Meta's ad library hides competitor spend, so the signal here is longevity — an ad still active after 30/90/300+ days is an ad its brand keeps paying for, which only happens to winners. Where Motion exposes an impression rank inside the brand's account, it's shown on the card.

How awareness stage is judged: by the creative's entry point — the on-image text and visual the viewer actually meets first, or the first line of copy when the creative carries no text. Captions don't set the stage; the creative does. Every card's Stage check names the tell. (Full visual re-audit: Aug 25, 2026.) One honest finding: long-running ads skew Product and Most Aware — that's where budgets concentrate. The scarcer Unaware and Problem examples here are the ones that survived.

They don't know they have a problem. The ad must be worth watching on its own — entertainment, emotion, culture, identity.

Curiosity Listicle Hook

“Top 3 soaps every man 45+ HAS to try”

A recommendation listicle reads as content, not advertising. The '45+' callout self-selects the viewer; the brand only appears inside the list.

Stage check: On-image: a listicle promise, no problem, no brand up front. Built for a viewer who wasn't shopping.

Entertainment-First Comedy

“Why women say THIS is the best trimmer for men's pubes”

The ad is a piece of entertainment that happens to sell. Humor earns the full watch, then the product rides the goodwill.

Stage check: Comedy-curiosity on-image hook — earns the watch from people who weren't looking.

Stage check: Nothing about gut health or sugar — just a song. Mental availability, not persuasion.

Creator Whitelisted Story

“Creator Kate Mackz tells her own story — 'I grew up in a house where we lived in activewear'”

Runs from the creator's own voice and handle. First-person life story makes it native content, not an ad.

Stage check: A creator's life story, not a pitch. The product is set dressing.

Name-the-Enemy Comedy

“These are the WORST thing that men can wear”

Opens by attacking what the viewer might literally be wearing. The humor keeps the accusation watchable; the product arrives as the rescue.

Trend-Jack Problem Video

“When appetite drops on GLP-1s, getting enough nutrition can feel harder than it should.”

Rides the GLP-1 wave by naming the NEW problem the trend created. Fastest way to relevance: solve the side-effect of what's culturally hot.

Read-the-Label Command

“Read the label.”

#3 impression ad in their entire account (its twin is #2). Three words that weaponize the reader's own kitchen — the ad doesn't claim the problem, it sends you to discover it.

Stage check: No claims, no mechanism — a command that makes the reader find the problem themselves. Self-discovered problems stick hardest.

Authority Problem-Reveal

“If you're washing your face and hair in hard water every day, you're fighting an uphill battle.”

A surgeon reveals a problem the reader never suspected: their water. Hidden-cause ads mint NEW problem-aware audiences instead of fighting over existing ones — Jolie's whole brand runs on this move.

Stage check: The reader didn't know hard water was hurting them; an authority reveals the hidden cause. Problem creation, with borrowed credibility.

Celebrity Authority Quote

The steal-this playbook

the transferable move at each awareness stage

Unaware Make the ad the content

  • Curiosity listicles: “Top 3 soaps every man 45+ HAS to try” (Dr. Squatch)
  • Comedy or music the audience would watch anyway — the product rides the goodwill (Squatch, Olipop's branded earworm)
  • Ambassador and creator brand films that sell identity, not features (Vuori)

Problem Aware Open on the pain, not the product

  • Give the incumbent a visceral nickname (“burnt brown balls”) and let it be the villain (Farmer's Dog's #3 ad)
  • Mirror the reader's reality in one image — a kid's diet drawn in junk-food emojis (Hiya)
  • Open on the felt struggle as a question: “Trying to lose weight without losing energy?” (Huel)
  • Attack the default they're literally wearing: “the WORST thing men can wear” (True Classic)
  • Send them to the evidence — “Read the label.” — so they discover the problem themselves (Sundays' #2/#3 ads)
  • Trend-jack the NEW problem a wave created: “the hardest part about being on GLP-1” (Huel)
  • Reveal a hidden cause with authority: a surgeon on what hard water does to skin (Jolie)

Solution Aware Show the mechanism

  • Side-by-side comparison demos — old way vs. new way, with a “wait for it” retention hook (Hismile)
  • Us-vs-Them nutrition tables the reader computes themselves (Magic Spoon)
  • Tell them to break up with the incumbent — advertorial statics (Jones Road)
  • Single-promise statics: “One Pair. Any Trip.” (Vessi) and persona callouts: “Dog-Friendly Washable Rugs” (Ruggable)

Product Aware Stack the proof

  • Authority verdict as the headline: Ramsay's quote ran 480 days (HexClad)
  • One number as the whole ad: “1 sold every 5 seconds” (True Classic)
  • USP + risk-reversal stacks: guarantee, trial, returns, review count (Ridge)
  • Meet the skepticism head-on: “Real results or clever editing??” (Hismile), named stress tests (Vessi), buy-it-for-life warranty claims (HexClad)

Most Aware Give them a reason to act now

  • Speak to the deal-waiter directly: “I wanna switch… but I'm waiting for the perfect sale” — then the offer stack (Dr. Squatch, 338 days)
  • Scarcity with receipts: “Almost sold out”, “sold out last year — it's back”, back-in-stock alerts (True Classic, Jones Road, Lume)
  • Fans-first launches: “NEW” drops and line-extension listicles (Magic Spoon, HexClad, Sundays)
  • Offer-led statics: price reframes ($2.65/meal), first-box discounts, discount-for-email (Huel, Farmer's Dog, Vuori)
